follow link Here at Aston Villa, we’re no strangers to letting players go for big money, so it’s nice to be on the other side of things for the first time in a while. After spending (and wasting) millions during the MON days, things were toned down and we found ourselves selling our best talent for massive fees.
It may have taken falling into the Championship, but we’re joining the rest of football and going a bit mad with transfer fees. Kodjia has joined for a Championship record fee, and it’s hugely impressive to see Dr Tony Xia and the rest of the board take action after many promises. I’ve been massively impressed with the signings so far, and after an indifferent start to life in the second division, including losing to Bristol City on the weekend, they’re certainly needed. As a bonus, an attacking midfielder or someone with more creativity would be most welcome before the close of play tomorrow.
Back to Kodjia, and the response from Bristol City fans is interesting, as you’d expect having lost one of your main players. We’ve been there, and the responses range from Bristol having done us a kipper, to regret at one of the better strikers in the league leaving. Here’s a flavour.

Jonathan Kodjia was a good player for us but to sale for a deal worth up to £15M was a no brainer. Best of luck Jimmy!! 👍 #BristolCity

£15m for #BristolCity Jonathan Kodjia,
£13m profit for a striker who struggles to understand the offside rule.
World Gone Mad.
