Ah Joleon Lescott. Like many others, I had reasonably high hopes for the Villa supporting defender, who joined us last summer after being linked for many years previously. After avoiding relegation, reaching the FA Cup final and with Tim Sherwood at the helm, things actually looked reasonably positive at the club, with Lescott hopefully fitting right in.

Boy, were we wrong. A horror season followed, with Lescott doing his best to alienate Villa fans with poor displays on the pitch, and numerous social media disasters off it. It was pretty clear that the player had no future at the club, and after a Rangers move fell through, Lescott is off to sunnier climes and heading to AEK Athens.

At this point, I want to congratulate our owner and the board for getting another player from last seasons disaster off the books. It can’t be easy making these players appealing in any way, but ever so slowly, we’re getting rid of these high wages and negative memories. Few more signings and I think we’ll be fine.

Anyway, on to what you came to see, and that is how Villa fans reacted to Lescott’s departure. It’s not pretty. As always, if any Villans see their tweet in our piece and don’t want it included, just let us know.

UTV.
